Dear Supporters of Trần Nhân Tông Academy,
Trần Nhân Tông Academy will be devoted to advancing the spirit , philosophy and wisdom of Trần Nhân Tông. His legacy of reconciliation and compassion will define the Academy’s mission. He was a wise king and a holy man who understood that tolerance is the key to personal contentment and to a society united as one. Spirituality and kindness, rather than earthly possessions and power, guided his life and will guide the work of the Academy.
Each year, Trần Nhân Tông Academy will award the Trần Nhân Tông International Prize for Reconciliation and Compassion. Selected by the Academy’s Prize Committee, the recipients will be distinguished by their exemplary character and by their devotion to promoting reconciliation.
Trần Nhân Tông Academy will also hold an annual Reconciliation and Compassion Conference. It will bring together scholars and leaders for the purpose of discussing, and discovering, how best to advance Trần Nhân Tông’s legacy of reconciliation and compassion. The initial conference will be held later this year in Boston, which is home to great universities.
In Hanoi, Trần Nhân Tông Academy will assist in the creation of the Trần Nhân Tông Museum and Learning Center, which will be devoted to explaining the life and legacy of Trần Nhân Tông and to activities that promote his vision of reconciliation and compassion, also his sprit and philosophy . The Museum and Learning Center will make a special effort to reach out to the youth of Vietnam, so that they have a greater understanding of the wise king who once guided their country to safety and who today can inspire them to a life devoted to their country and to the well-being of others. The Museum and Learning Center will also make a special effort to reach out to visitors to Vietnam, so that people from around the world can be told of, and be inspired by, Vietnam’s wise and historic king.
Through Trần Nhân Tông Academy, we can help to advance the cause of reconciliation and compassion in Vietnam and around the world. In this effort, I am gratified to have the guidance and support of Nguyen Anh Tuan. Trần Nhân Tông Academy was his vision. It is a remarkable vision that needs and deserves your support.
